Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Urgent notice to our Abbeyfield family and friends…

During this time of uncertainty, please feel free to telephone Abbeyfield House with your questions.  We are more than happy to help if we can.  Please take care, keep well and keep safe.  We provide further information below in order to safeguard our Abbeyfield family at this uncertain time:

Non Essential Visits to Abbeyfield House

With a heavy heart, as a response to the threat of COVID-19, we have had to make the difficult decision to suspend all non-essential visits to Abbeyfield House with immediate effect.  Much has changed over the last few days so we need to ensure that the health of our residents and staff remain our top priority. We have been in regular contact with the NHS, Public Health Scotland and the local Environmental Health Departments and are adhering to guidance issued by the Care Inspectorate.

What does this mean?

We have moved to “lock down” of Abbeyfield House and, for now, all non-essential visits will be paused. We are continuing with our robust cleaning procedures and infection control practices and we have strict protocols in place to limit risks of cross infection. We are also monitoring the health and well-being of our staff with contingency and scenario planning in place to ensure continuity of our service to our Abbeyfield family.

To maintain contact with your family and friends, we are encouraging increased use of telephone, Social media and Video Calls.

We also recognise that some members in our family are in a palliative and end stage of life or may enter this. In such circumstances, it is important that family and close friends are able to be with their loved ones. We will therefore adopt appropriate screening methods and undertake risk assessments to enable this to take place. Please contact me at Abbeyfield House in order to discuss arrangements.

Please be assured that these preventive methods will help keep you and your loved ones safe along with our wider staff who form our Abbeyfield family. We will continue to keep you informed of any updates. In the meantime, if you have any questions, please contact me directly on: (01294) 279019 or email abbeyfi_morris@btconnect.com

Please keep yourself safe and follow the NHS advice under continual review: www.nhsinform.scot/coronavirus

With my sincere best wishes at this uncertain time,

Tricia Morrison

Manager (Abbeyfield House, Irvine)
